CHAPTER 9 - PROTOCOL 6

Co-Creation for Leadership Development

TIME90 minutes plus design follow-up
OWNERCross-role leadership-development design group
ARTIFACTCo-created learning pathway + shared ownership plan
SUCCESS CRITERIA
  1. Participants understand the decision space and exercise meaningful influence.
  2. The pathway connects strategic direction to varied leader needs and contexts.
  3. Learning modes, application, coaching, evidence, and refinement are co-designed.
  4. Ownership, communication, resourcing, and review are explicit.
IMPLEMENTATION STEPS
01

Frame the shared challenge

Clarify the strategic need, leader experience, evidence, constraints, and decisions available for co-creation.

02

Surface needs and assets

Identify role-specific problems, existing expertise, learning preferences, barriers, and useful current structures.

03

Build the pathway

Design common purpose with differentiated routes, application cycles, coaching, peer learning, evidence, and choice.

04

Commit to shared stewardship

Assign ownership, resources, communication, feedback, and review dates for the pathway.

REFLECTION PROMPTS
  • Where could co-creation become symbolic consultation?
  • What should be common and what should remain differentiated?
  • Whose voice is still missing from the design?
EQUITY GUARDRAILS
  • Be explicit about nonnegotiables and decision authority.
  • Do not invite input after consequential decisions are already fixed.
  • Address power differences so disagreement and minority perspectives can shape the design.
