CHAPTER 3 - PROTOCOL 7

Identity Anchoring

TIME10 minutes daily or 20 minutes weekly
OWNERPrincipal or leader
ARTIFACTIdentity anchor + use-and-review plan
SUCCESS CRITERIA
  1. The anchor is connected to a clearly named identity commitment.
  2. It can be used quickly in a real pressure moment.
  3. The practice leads to an observable decision or behavior.
  4. The leader reviews whether the anchor improved alignment rather than merely reducing discomfort.
IMPLEMENTATION STEPS
01

Name the pressure point

Identify the recurring context, emotion, demand, or decision that tends to pull you away from grounded leadership.

02

Choose the identity commitment

Select the belief, value, mission phrase, or non-negotiable that matters in that moment.

03

Build the anchor

Create a brief cue and question that can interrupt reactivity and direct the next move.

04

Use, document, and refine

Apply the anchor in a real moment, record the decision and impact, and revise based on evidence.

REFLECTION PROMPTS
  • Does this anchor reconnect me to purpose or only help me feel composed?
  • What system condition repeatedly creates this pressure?
  • Who experiences the difference when I lead from identity?
EQUITY GUARDRAILS
  • An anchor is not a substitute for addressing chronic structural pressure.
  • Grounded identity should remain open to feedback and revision.
  • Do not use values language to justify rigidity or avoid accountability.
