CHAPTER 3 - PROTOCOL 3

Values Clarification

TIME45-60 minutes
OWNERPrincipal or leader; facilitator optional
ARTIFACTPrioritized values + value-to-behavior bridge
SUCCESS CRITERIA
  1. You identify values grounded in lived leadership evidence.
  2. You prioritize a small set instead of naming every desirable value.
  3. Each value is translated into observable behavior.
  4. You identify one gap between a stated value and current practice.
IMPLEMENTATION STEPS
01

Surface value evidence

Study moments of pride, frustration, conflict, and energy for the values being protected or violated.

02

Name and prioritize

Select three to five values that most consistently guide your leadership choices.

03

Build the behavior bridge

Define one weekly behavior and one decision rule connected to each value.

04

Repair one gap

Choose one value-behavior inconsistency and design a small corrective action.

REFLECTION PROMPTS
  • Which value becomes negotiable under pressure?
  • What value may others experience differently than I intend?
  • What does my calendar reveal about my actual values?
EQUITY GUARDRAILS
  • Values language should clarify responsibility, not claim moral superiority.
  • Test value expression across roles and identities.
  • Do not use shared values to suppress principled disagreement.
