  2. Each commitment uses clear behavioral language.
  3. The expectations apply to leaders as well as staff.
  4. The team defines reinforcement, accountability, and a review date.
IMPLEMENTATION STEPS

Anchor in evidence

Review the cultural strength or tension the commitments must protect or change.

Generate behaviors

Describe what adults will say, do, interrupt, and protect when the desired culture is present.

Select and test

Choose three to five concise commitments and test them against real school scenarios and power differences.

Embed and return

Identify where commitments will be practiced, modeled, reinforced, and reviewed.

  • Which commitment will require the greatest change from leadership?
  • What behavior would violate this commitment even if intentions were positive?
  • How will new staff learn the commitments?
EQUITY GUARDRAILS
  • Commitments must not be used to demand silence, positivity, or conformity.
  • Include employees across roles and levels of formal power.
  • Accountability should be reciprocal and restorative, not selectively punitive.
