TIME60-75 minutes
OWNERPrincipal with representative design team
ARTIFACTRecognition design + equity review plan
SUCCESS CRITERIA
  1. Recognition is connected to observable cultural commitments.
  2. The system values varied forms of contribution and participation.
  3. Access, nomination, selection, and visibility have been equity-tested.
  4. The design includes feedback and review rather than permanent assumptions.
IMPLEMENTATION STEPS
01

Define what deserves notice

Identify the behaviors, contributions, growth, or care that embody the intended culture.

02

Study the current pattern

Examine who is noticed, by whom, for what, and who may be consistently overlooked.

03

Design the recognition

Choose inclusive nomination, selection, timing, and acknowledgment practices tied to meaning rather than reward alone.

04

Pilot and equity-check

Run a small pilot, review participation and perception data, and refine before scaling.

REFLECTION PROMPTS
  • What contribution does the current system unintentionally privilege?
  • Could recognition create competition that weakens community?
  • How will people who prefer private acknowledgment participate?
EQUITY GUARDRAILS
  • Never make public recognition the price of belonging.
  • Avoid popularity contests, tokenism, and culturally narrow definitions of excellence.
  • Recognition cannot replace fair working conditions, feedback, or material support.
